about shopping with africancraft.com

AfricanCraft.com offers one single shopping mechanism for ordering from the different retailers whose catalogs are offered online with us.

We're carefully choosing the retailers in order to offer a wide and varied selection of handcrafted items, gifts, home accessories and arts from Africa. What we are also looking for in the shops are proprietors who are very knowledgeable about African crafts, offer quality products, good service and, simply, have great taste!

For more information on how to shop, security and privacy concerns, our satisfaction guarantee and shipping charges, just click on the links in the menu on the left.

Shipping Charges

Items ordered together will not necessarily be shipped together. If any item is not in stock, we will notify you as quickly as we can and ask you whether you would like to backorder or cancel.

The vendors on AfricanCraft.com ship either by UPS or with the U.S. Postal Service. The shipping charge is 10% of the order total. There is a minimum shipping charge of $5.

International (outside the U.S.) shipping charges might be higher. We will notify you by email once we receive your order and destination, and await your approval before shipping.

Your credit card will not be billed until items are shipped.

returns

Every effort has been made to offer multiple photographs for each item in the retailers' catalogs, with detail and close-up shots, so that you might have a better chance to see what the item is like; however, we recognize that sometimes one just has to touch an item or try it on to be sure, so all the retailers on AfricanCraft.com offer their unconditional guarantee of satisfaction.

If you don't want your order simply contact us within one week of receiving your purchase so that we can give you instruction on returning it. This is particularly important if your ordered arrived in damaged condition. Items must be returned in the same condition in which they were received. Please note, shipping costs are not refunded.

The guarantees offered by the retailers are backed by AfricanCraft.com as well.

Website security

We use the preferred methods for handling the problem of transfering personal data securely over the Internet. When you fill out the order form and press the "submit secure order" button, the information you entered is passed along a "secure socket layer", or SSL, where the information is encrypted to reach our server computer.

If your browser does not support this encrypting of information, then pressing the "submit secure order" button will simply result in an error message, and your information will not have been sent. In this case we would like to ask that you send in your order by email, without including your credit card number, for security.

For security purposes we do not store credit card numbers on our servers.

privacy policy

The personal information we collect is the information that you choose to submit when placing an order: your name, address, email, and phone number. These are collected for the purpose of fulfilling your order. We also receive billing information when you place an order, but do not save this information on our server computer. If you choose to create an account, you have the ability to view and edit all personal data that you submitted during registaration. Just click on the "MyAccount" link at the top of the page to do so. If you would like to delete an account you created, please contact us.

We do not share personal information about our users with third parties, except for the purpose of processing your payment, and with the vendors who mail your purchase.
